Pomarance
The name of Pomarance was attested to it for the first time in 1128 with the name of Ripomarrancia. The first part of the word comes from the Latin name ripa, namely banks, the second is still uncertain but should derive from the name of Roman Arranciae person. The name of the Italian second pomarancia ancient port means melarancia. The town has become famous for its exploitation of geothermal energy in the hamlet of Larderello.
